Shake It Up!

Many ask (some with a smile others with a turned up nose) what the colorful drink is in my morning cup every day so I thought I’d share…
When I started out it gave me many nutrients I’d been missing due to gut issues and not being able to eat many foods.
This is also a great source of nutrition for the individuals or the elderly who might not be able to swallow food easily and for individuals with illnesses such as cancer when eating chunky foods is an issue or food just doesn’t sound good.
I start with a handful of a spinach, red lettuce or cucumber
1 peeled carrot
1/3 C frozen strawberries
1/3 C frozen blueberries
4 chunks frozen pineapple
3-4 frozen cherries
1 piece of fresh fruit (apple, pear, kiwi, banana, etc)
1/2 C yogurt
Some add nuts, seeds or cacao nibs for a chocolatey taste
Top it off with a small amount of liquid (I use Mama Chai drink but any will do…water, almond milk, rice milk, juice)
Add all ingredients to NutriBullet or blender, blend and Enjoy!
As you can imagine, there are countless combinations one could come up with but this has been mine for the last two years. I prefer the mix of the frozen fruit with the fresh to give it a frozen shake texture.
